Creating Monoprint Artworks with Image Transfers Workshop
What to expect/what’s included
-
Enrollment is limited to six people to ensure that each participant receives individual attention and can fully engage with the printing process and the relaxed small group experience.
-
Print transfers can be tricky. To achieve a good quality clear transfer, it is essential that the original image is a high contrast black and white image printed on a LASER printer, and preferably printed on the colour printing setting. Prints can be printed on regular photocopy paper.
I will provide a range of laser prints for you to use; however, if you have an image that you would like to bring along for printing, I suggest that you maniplulate your image using photo editing softwear to achieve a high contrast black and white image and have the image printed at Officeworks behind the counter, not on the self-serve photocopiers.
If you have any questions about this part of the process, please pop a post in the workshop Facebook Group, message or call me.

This workshop will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to create successful image transfers using a gel plate and a unique monoprint. Everything you need for the day's printing is provided: gel plate, paper for printing, a range of laser prints for transfer, paints, stencils, masks, brayers (rollers), and any other supplies needed to create your prints.
Of course, if you already have a plate, you are more than welcome to bring it along. We will be working on 8" x 10" and 5” x 7 ‘ plates.

It would be fair to say I'm addicted to monoprinting! I’ve been working as a full-time artist for three years. For the majority of that time, I have been immersed in creating art using the gel printing method after working as a part-time artist in various mediums for many years.
I was awarded the Blaney Aquisitive Art Prize 2024 with a work that was predominantly created on the gel plate. You can read more about me here and browse just some of my work here.
With decades of teaching experience, I thoroughly enjoy delivering workshops and pride myself on being well-prepared, providing practical and useful resources, and dedicated to ensuring you have a productive and enjoyable time in my workshops.

Tea and coffee with a light morning and afternoon tea is provided.
There are cafes and a well-stocked IGA in Millthorpe if you wish to buy your lunch, or you are welcome to bring your lunch and enjoy it on-site (there's a kitchen with a microwave should you need to heat your lunch).
-
I'll provide aprons; however, we will be working with acrylic paint - it is permanent, fast drying, and usually doesn't come out of clothes once it's dry.
I recommend wearing old clothes, or a coverall shirt that you don't mind getting paint on.
A notepad and pen
Bring your lunch if you wish, and your enthusiasm. I've got the rest covered :-)
